Lift-ground Etching and Poem
When we were vibrant We thought we were strong We reached out below Our visible song Our parallel lives Kept trying to touch Chords in the other That felt like too much
Hercules Segers c. 1625 - c. 1630 The Two Trees (An Alder and an Ash) lift-ground etching, printed in green (azurite and precipitated yellow lake) on paper prepared with a light pink, lead-based ground, colored with semi-transparent, light blue paint height 152 mm x width 173 mm (trimmed within the printed surface, except at top; especially on left where a strip several centimeters wide seems to be missing) On loan from the City of Amsterdam RP-P-H-OB-848

Beautiful!
I liked those words too: "Our parallel lives". It made me stop and ponder over the etching scene ... What a gorgeous etching. Thank you, Elizabeth. 💗🙏🏻
